About

Ash James has always written though other work came first. He has been a barman, postman, and deputy head of a secondary school, for which he was paid, and variously a music promoter, citizens adviser, musician, charity fund raiser, mini-vicar and chair of governors, for which he was thanked.

He grew up in Warley, with an early ambition to become the driver of the 124 bus into nearby Birmingham, but this was thwarted by his studies at Leeds and Birmingham Universities. Undaunted he became a teacher, and overnight an adult. He taught in schools in Birmingham and Dudley, with his work taking him to other exotic places such as Scratchy Bottom in Dorset, Boggle Hole in Yorkshire, and Downing Street, London.

A lover of the great outdoors, he has walked across England with a Roman Centurion, crossed Scotland by boat, and traversed the borderlands between the two countries in the steps of a saint called Cuthbert-all in the cause of of charitable fundraising.

He lives in Stourbridge.
