BOOK LAUNCH DAY

14th July, 2024, Stourbridge.

THE POET LAURIE ATE (TPLA)

All good book launches deserve a great location. And none better than a canal basin in the English Black Country! So what does this have to do with a best-seller set in WW1 Cairo and Menorca? Well, The Bonded Warehouse and Stourbridge Canal would have been known and still recognisable to this very day, by both the inspiration for Laurie, the central character in the book, and his enduring family. So he could, strange to say, have walked these very cobbles, stairs and towpaths.

The Launch – aka `Six Steps To A Re-Print`

1. Sell, sell sell!
2. Make `em work!
3. Take them on a journey!
4. Keep smiling, even if no one`s listening!
5. Remind them it`s all free!

6. And…
Most importantly of all…
Get Party Hats!

And below, a video of the day from ©2024 Rose Dalley, musician and all-round creative. Thanks Rosie!

It was a great day. Wonderful folk travelled from across the country, some even crossing national borders to be present. Books were sold, stories were told.

Everyone was kindly and supportive. A number had already read TPLA, and asked “what next?” Others promised to do so and to leave reviews, or at the very least use the book as a useful door stop.

To top things off, the event was inter-generational.

The present and the future, together.

Thanks to all for making this such a memorable day.

(Ed. Still some way from a re-print!)
