A 4-page interview in the prestigious magazine which accompanies the major BBC programme of the same name, about my grandad, George Percy James. He left a rich legacy of information about his time in Cairo in WW1, which together with other materials ultimately inspired me to write the fictional story of `The Poet Laurie Ate` .

The Book Event. A chance to find out the background to the story, see some of the documents and photos that inspired the plot, listen (briefly, honestly) to the author, and ask any questions. More importantly, meet friends, old and new, and…eat cake.
The Book on the Boat– an Invitation Event, on the Stourbridge Cut.
Followed immediately by;
The Book On The Boat Launch. A gentle amble just across the way from The Boardroom to the moored and waiting Black Country Man, a 70 ft restored canal barge, built in 1948, for an idyllic 2hr 30 min round trip.
A light buffet will be provided, there is a licenced bar for drinks,tea, coffee, plus toilet, cushioned seating, fixed head roof, see-through side-screens, wheelchair access. A great chance to socialise and relax aboard a mode of transport that Laurie , the book`s main character, and probably some of your family predecessors, would have used for work and transport.
And it`s all free. Author Note: I shall need to sell even more books now! 🙂
